Very good product. If you are looking for portability buy a Medium one but if you don't care about carrying a big device around, definitely shoot for a big one which is awesome!!

I have used Wacom tablets for over 10 years in Photoshop (PS) picture editing. All of that time, I used the small 4x5" tablet as it coexisted nicely on my desk with my keyboard. The small size was not a big disadvantage with PS although more zoom and panning is necessary. I now have purchased the medium size tablet with the intent of being able to do free hand drawing, which would be much more difficult with the small tablet. I had also expected that the additional buttons and circular slide control would help with PS use. The tablet and pen input part is excellent as always with Wacom products. The only problem so far is an occasional driver start up failure, on Windows 7, leaving the tablet operationally dead. Although the table driver can be manually restarted, doing so caused other unwanted side effects, so I simply restart the computer and the driver comes up nicely.
My only disappointment is with the 8 buttons and circular slide. How do these controls compare to just using the keyboard shortcuts? Being very familiar with PS keyboard shortcut, I found that the added controls (mine are situated on the left side) operated too few PS functions - I had to use the keyboard anyway. This means shifting my hands over 8 inches to switch between the tablet buttons and the keyboard. Just using the keyboard worked better for me. Additionally, the Wacom buttons required too much pressure for fast work. That still leaves the slide control. How useful is that device? It works pretty well but only for one function. Although a center button changes the side control function, you need to click it 4 times to get back to the original starting function. Since you don't want to have to look at the tablet to figure out what slide function is in effect, you have to remember the current setting. These inconveniences means you have to assign duplicate functions to the slide control to minimize the number of clicks. That means the slide control can be used for 1 or at most 2 functions. I would have liked a left and right slide linear (not circular) control much better.
Still, I can highly recommend the tablet. The nib wear is not excessive and provides just the right amount of drag to simulate drawing with a pencil.
